Sander Voerman Philosophy of action and innovation
I am a philosopher and developer working in the fields of ethics, health, and information technology. I work as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Twente and as a research and development consultant. My current activities include the Redesigning Psychiatry project at Reframing Studio and the Medical Trust Beyond Clinical Walls project at Eindhoven University of Technology, where I am a guest researcher.
My academic interests cover a wide range of philosophical topics, including free agency, selfhood, morality, responsibility, consciousness, and the philosophy of health care and technology (concerning both somatic and mental health). I have developed a theory of the psychological nature of normative reasons for action in my PhD thesis The Normative Will (Tilburg University 2012). I have also published a textbook on free will, Vrije wil: Discussies over verantwoordelijkheid, zelfverwerkelijking en bewustzijn (Lemniscaat 2011, with Tjeerd van de Laar).
